CLOSE QUARTERS COMBAT If you have been unsatisfied with what you have found out there that
qualifies for self-defense...you are not alone. Many weekend seminars and
classes are just karate or judo techniques disguised as modern solutions by
instructors wearing street clothes. You are no more prepared for real violence
when you leave than when you arrived.
What makes CQC work? Our streamlined and modern training principles are the very
same used by law enforcement agencies and military units around the world. These
elite groups use this type of training because it gets results quickly and the
trainees retain the information. Contrary to what you may have been told, it
does not take 10 years or more to learn how to defend yourself! By integrating
into your muscle memory patterns practical and tactical solutions to real world
problems you may be faced with, we are now able to do in weeks what used to take
years.

FREQUENTLY ASKED CQC QUESTIONS
Below you will find a list of common questions asked by our customers. If you
don't find the answer to the particular question you may have, feel free to
CONTACT US.
Why CQC Training?Traditional martial arts classes do not address modern day threats of
violence. Most martial arts systems are very old and were devised to fight
according to and reflect the time period of their birth. For example, most
jumping/spinning kicks were originally devised to attack opponents riding
horseback. When was the last time you saw or read of someone mugged from
horseback? We have skill sets and tactics to help you deal with any realistic,
modern day threat. Whether it be unarmed attackers, knife attacks, impact
weapons, or gun threats...we have a solution. Real solutions for modern day
threats.
Is There a Uniform for CQC?
Yes there is, but not in the sense that you may be commonly used
to seeing in a martial arts or self-defense class. We wear T-shirts, pants, and
wrestling shoes. No pajamas here!
How often do I train in your
program/s? Well...that is entirely up to you. However,
if you want to be the best you'll need to put in the seat time. We have
schedules to fit everyone's needs. From weekly classes that meet 2 times per
week, to Instructor Candidate Camps that meet 5 times a week...we can fit
anyone's timeline and budget.
Should I buy tapes and DVDs
about CQC training? DVDs and other training aids definitely
will aid in your development. We are in the process of filming a series of
Training DVDs for our students to study at home.

Is there a ranking system in
CQC? Yes. It is very important to have a ranking system. It
helps you judge where you are and set goals for your improvement. We offer a 10
Level Training system. Instructorships are awarded as follows:
Beginner or Phase 1 Student (levels 1-3)
Advanced or Phase 2 (levels 4-6)
Expert or Phase 3 Student (levels 7-9)
Full Instructor Black Belt (level 10)
Is CQC training harsh like
Military Boot Camp? Not at all! Our staff are Coaches
not Drill Sergeants. At the same time...we will not advance anyone who is not
ready. Many people are afraid of sparring or scenario training. If something we
are doing makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to participate. We strongly
suggest that you complete all trainings, however, as they are all intricate
pieces of the puzzle.
How do I become a CQC Instructor?
Instructors are held to a very high standard from both us and the SFC. The best
way for you to become an Instructor is to attend one of our Instructor Candidate
Camps. Other folks attend weekly classes, and take more of a traditional
approach to getting their "Black Belt". Still others attend private sessions and
slowly "chip away" at rank as their schedules allow. We try to make sure that we
have a solution that best suits your timeline and budget. Please call us to set
up a training program that best fills your needs. 916-514-0100
